On the 04th of February 2023, the African People’s Movement hosted a jubilant 55th birthday celebration for President of APEMO, Mr VR Mlotshwa, at Bethany, Ward 15 of Okhahlamba region.
The President, with the support from the movement’s warriors and activists based in Bethany, had preliminarily identified 55 families that needed assistance with groceries and therefore it was evident from the onset that this auspicious day was not only primarily centered around the celebration per se but most significantly, was used to connect more with the locals and officialy introduce the movement to them.
Amongst other things, the core objective(s) was to dismantle the fallacies and misconceptions that have been falsely proclaimed by those who are seemingly detractors of this growing movement; who only thrive on dispute as opposed to service delivery to the needs of the people. Those who politicise the devastations of the downtrodden and marginalized within our communities instead of working tirelessly to find solution based strategies for betterment of people’s livelihoods.
The President, during his birthday closing remarks, revealed a tangible solution, that is the Lumi currency which will be shared amongst all the people as beneficiaries despite their political affiliation and interests. This is an initiative that would not only alleviate poverty but create and stimulate local economic opportunities. Such an initiative was well received and appreciated by the locals and since then, more than 2000 people from Bethany have registered and the second phase of the capturing process is still ongoing. A clear depiction of promises translated into tangible action.
