APEMO: Okhahlamba Constituency Elective Conference

The Okhahlamba Constituency elective Conference was held on the 6th of July 2023 at Woodford Community Hall. This conference convened delegates across 48 branches of Okhahlamba. The presiding officer and officiator was the Deputy-Secretary General, Wrr T Shabangu accompanied by Wrr L Mzolo and Wrr S Sehlako, who were delegated members of the Interim National Executive Committee.

The conference kickstarted with an address by the then interim constituency Chairperson Wrr K Hlongwane. The outgoing chairperson alongside his committee members, Wrr N Mabizela & Wrr K Hadebe outlined the remarkable work that was achieved by the committee since the inception of the movement in 2021 and the subsequent local government elections which produced exceptional results; attaining 6 council seats and gave APEMO its first Mayoral seat at Okhahlamba Local Municipality. The outgoing chairperson then emphasized the significance of unison and collaboration amongst the incoming committee members and to be mindful of the challenges to deal with during the course of their work.

The Deputy Secretary-General orientated all branch delegates on what was expected of them and the procedure that was ought to be followed during the election process. This was a fair, impartial and free election process that every voting delegate assented to and it was conducted through a secret ballot vote.

The final conference remarks were given by the newly elected Chairperson Wrr Ndondo “Cwebezela” Dlamini who reiterated the imperative of the committee to work closely with branches in order to put into effect the mandate and directives that will be coming from the upper leadership structures. The chairperson was very assertive and resolute, together with his committee, to serve diligently and improve the state of APEMO branches at Okhahlamba and ensured measurable progress.
